Majeed S. Samara

Majeed is an approachable and successful San Francisco Bay Area criminal attorney who cares deeply about his clients. With over 25 years of knowledge and experience in the legal system, he is determined to bring about the best possible outcome for his clients. Well-respected in his community and among his legal colleagues, he is known for his driven nature and for taking exceptional care of his clients.

Majeed studied at the Hebrew University in Israel, going on to graduate from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a B.A. in Political Science. He earned his J.D. at the University of California, Hastings College of Law. Upon graduation from law school, Majeed clerked for the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Ninth District and the Honorable Justice Charles Springer at the Nevada Supreme Court, where he researched and drafted legal opinions that were approved by the Supreme Court and served as precedent to all courts in the state of Nevada. 

The opinions were wide-ranging—covering criminal law, labor law, and corporate and business transactions.

Majeed moved back to the Bay Area and joined the San Mateo County Private Defender Program, representing indigent clients in misdemeanor and felony drug cases, domestic violence cases, and alcohol and driving related offenses. He opened his legal practice in 1993, where he continues to work tirelessly advocating for clients on issues ranging from simple misdemeanors and traffic matters to serious felonies, including attempted murder and serious drug and gun charges.  

He has conducted over 50 jury trials as well as innumerable court trials, preliminary hearings, probation violation hearings, and DMV hearings. On the basis of this experience, Majeed was asked to serve as a judge pro tem in Alameda and San Mateo Counties, where he presided over unlawful detainer, small claims and infraction matters.

Jay grew up in Buffalo, New York and graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature.  He worked as the managing editor of a trade newspaper in New York City before moving to San Francisco and earning his J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 2008.

Jay joined the firm in 2009 as an associate attorney. He has written and conducted numerous motions, preliminary hearings, DMV hearings and jury and court trials—representing clients in both state and federal court on felony and misdemeanor cases, as well as DMV and traffic matters.  Jay is a board member of the Asian American Criminal Trial Lawyers Association and volunteers his time to non-profit organizations that assist people who need legal guidance.    

Having practiced in courtrooms throughout the Bay Area and beyond, Jay is a knowledgeable and compassionate advocate who relies on his knowledge of the intricacies of each courthouse and District Attorney's offices to achieve the best possible results for our clients.

Fatima is a Bay Area native who grew up in Daly City, CA. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business with a concentration in Computer Information Systems from San Francisco State University and has been with the Law Office of Majeed Samara since 2003, serving as the firm’s legal coordinator and office manager.  

Fatima is uniquely qualified to coordinate the firm’s considerable criminal, traffic and DMV caseload as well as the demanding atmosphere of a bustling office, and is eager to provide support and assistance to all of our clients.
